![]() ![]() ![]() The second I noticed one bump into my Seatruck ages ago I never leave it parked where near an Iceburg or solid structure. I hope Unknown Worlds takes this potential to heart, because right now the Seatruck is one of the weakest features of the game when in my view it could be one of the strongest with just mild tweaking.Well I'm glad I never left my Seatruck unattended in an area swarming with gigantic massive swimming peaceful Leviathans. Being able to improve and customize your vehicles more deeply is a cool concept, and the Seatruck is a great opportunity to explore this more in Below Zero with some simple tweaks. In conclusion - there's a reason so many mods for Subnautica revolve around adding more upgrades and additional upgrade slots to vehicles, particularly the Cyclops. ![]() With the addition of an Upgrade Panel Module, there could also be more upgrades available for individual sea truck functions - for example, with an implmented Scanner Module, you could slot an Upgrade Module with scanner upgrades. I'm sure there are more that could be thrown in as well and have some purpose (or at least more purpose than the sleeper module), but these few in particular would help solidify the mobile base aspect of the truck, while again re-using assets and functionality from other areas of the game for a lighter workload. Other new modules that wouldn't go amiss and can re-use existing assets: a Planter Module, possibly two varieties for both terrestrial and aquatic plants a Scanner Module, less powerful than the scanner room and a big power drain but undoubtedly very useful a Creature Decoy Module to launch decoys from your truck much like you could from the Cyclops a Power Supply Module allowing you to expand the power capacity of your truck with extra power cells so you don't have to replace them as frequently on a long expedition. This module in particular shouldn't be much extra work, since the assets can be repurposed from those already in the game, and any extra upgrades added just require a new icon and a few lines of code. This way you can add additional mobility, utility, or bulk to a larger truck at the cost of more resources, giving you more potential to invest in your mobile base. This would allow you to install certain additional upgrades in to a section of your truck (such as extra horsepower and additional hull plating), requiring an extra power cell to fuel the module and increasing the power usage of the truck to compensate for every installed upgrade panel. Of course you can also double up the storage and have twice as much space in one cabin as well - right now it just feels silly how little storage you get between all those lockers, just like it does when you build a fabricator on one wall and the rest of the cabin is just empty.Īdditionally, there's room for some new modules - but above all I'd like to see a new upgrade panel module. instead of a single storage module that gives you a cabin full of low-storage lockers, one wall can be attached with a storage module which would have high-capacity lockers, and you can install a fabricator or aquarium or whatever else on the other wall, solving the problem of certain modules not feeling like they're worth an entire cabin on their own. This fulfills two major points: modules can be twice as efficient. This base segment itself will be the modular platform for Seatruck customization, so you can add or remove modules to the interior walls individually based on your needs. With that in mind, I have a few ideas that I feel could be implemented relatively simply and make finding and building new modules for your Seatruck always feel cool and useful.įirst, have only two truck pieces built at the mobile vehicle bay: the cabin, and a base piece that can be attached/detached from the cabin just like existing modules. As it stands, the truck just gets too big too fast, and it slows to a crawl if you fully utilize its functions, which often leads to it just serving as a storage and prawn carrier without any of the more unique modules being touched because they aren't worth the slowdown. Thinking on the subject for a while, I've come up with what I consider some viable solutions to fulfill what seems to be the intended fantasy of the Seatruck, as a mobile base that you can steadily build up into something increasingly useful. I've voiced concerns about the Seatruck from relatively early on, and it seems the general consensus agrees with me. ![]()
